Cartoon Theme Dance

We had a Stake dance with the theme of cartoon characters,
Dan - Hades (Hercules)
Sarah - Merida (Brave)
Thore - Thor ( Of course, who else would he be?)
 Merida and Cinderella
 Russell and Carl from "UP"
 Hercules, Meg, and Hades
 Hades with Violet Incredible (Incredibles)
 Tweedle Dee and Thor
Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty)
Dan drew this picture board, He did an awesome job!
(If you see any odd parts that is my fault)

Dan's Birthday, and Silly Cousins

"17"
I can't believe he is 17!
They grow up all too fast. Dan loves pumpkin pie so that has been his birthday cake for the last few years.

Meet Thore

The beginning of Sept. we gave the idea of an exchange student a little thought, thinking maybe spring or summer for a couple of months. So as we were filling out the application the rep. for this area called and told us they were desperately trying to place a couple of kids and asked if we would host. We were  taken aback by the suddenness of it all. Tues. it was a possibility, Wed. it was not and Thur. night Thore arrived from Germany.

He arrived on Thursday and his 17th birthday was Sunday. Sarah made him a cake and we celebrated all together.
The American pronunciation of his name is Thor so Dan couldn't resist getting him a Thor hammer for his birthday.

In his own words " I am awesome" and he is pretty awesome.

A Few Random Posts

Shaun got Mulch to add to the flower beds one day and asked for a little help from the girls. A. got out there and helped. In fact she  was such a good helper that when they were half way through Shaun had to run an errand, She just about had it finished by the time he got back.
We were pretty amazed at how hard she worked, She was pretty proud of the work she had done.

When we were in Hawaii G-ma & G-pa came and watched the kiddos. It snowed while we were gone and the kids had a great time making cute snowmen.

It looks like THEY had to take care of baby Gramps.
Snow men Calvin & Hobbes style

Little I. played soccer this spring, she loved it, she always wore crazy socks

This Amazing daughter of mine worked and saved  $350  to go to EFY(Especially for Youth) this summer. She talked her friend into going too.  They had so much fun that they want to do it again next year and S. is already saving up.

Youth Conference 2012

As the Stake Young Mens President, Shaun helped plan and carry out the youth conference this year.  There were a 144 youth in attendance.  We all got on busses at 11:00 pm one night and arrived in Nauvoo 7:30 am. Of course no one got any sleep! We ate breakfast and then went to the different sites.
Making rope at the Family Living center.
Lunch time in the park, everyone was so tired by lunchtime that they all just sat around relaxing for a few hours.
We went to see the Nauvoo Pageant and before it starts the have a fair with all these fun activities for the kids to try, like walking on stilts...
 pulling a handcart....
and dancing.
Shaun & I even did it.
 Dad with his daughter, awww...
 Seeing more historical sites.
We were walking back from our temple session to the bus (and somehow I forgot to take a picture of the temple.)and we stopped in the garden grove and listened while "Joseph Smith" gave a little of his King Follett talk. It was cool.

Overall even though we didn't get much sleep it was a great experience, we had a testimony meeting that almost every kid got up.
It was all worth it.
